The Taj Mahal is considered one of the most romantic monuments in the world. Built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan after the death of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, this white marble mausoleum is considered a monument to eternal love.

With limited access, the Taj is now open for five nights each month for night time viewing around the full moon nights. The number of visitors is restricted. Only 50 visitors in five batches are allowed at a time for 30 minutes each between 2030 hrs to 0030 hrs.

When can the Taj Mahal be seen by Moonlight?

A total of 400 tourists are permitted to see the Taj Mahal, on or around moonlit nights, on five specific nights in a month. These nights are the full moon night itself and the two nights before and after the full moon night.

To help you book in advance and avoid disappointment, Taj Mahal Tourism provides a list of full moon nights in the coming year. You can plan your trip before hand, so you won't miss this eagerly awaited sight.
